friday, for what it’s worth

Not much to report today.  The one thing of note is that my poem “Home Begins…” has been featured at the brand new Sea Giraffe Magazine.  You can read it here.

Lastly, I’m not sure how I came across this…I think it was for researching a bit for Birdwatching from Mars. But check out this clip of an interview from Neil deGrasse Tyson.  To say he’s a genius is an understatement…to say he is a quirky genius, however, might be right on target.  I could listen to this man talk all day.  If you want to feel larger than life, if even for a moment, check out the clip.  Particularly 2:25 – 4:00 or so.  (his thoughts on Isaac Newton in this clip are pretty funny and insightful, too…)

Have a great weekend all!

  1. Wow dude, that was brilliant! He has that typical smart engineer thing going, but with so, so much more excitement and insight.

Definitely loved his most astounding fact, like you said. Naturally the first place I go with it is, “Oh look, Buddha was totally right again!” But truly, amazing.

And yeah, Newton. No wonder he was such a mean son-of-a-bitch. Must suck to be so freaking smart and connected to the universe that no one understands a damn thing you’re saying. (Leibniz rolls over in his grave. Cheerful bastard, he deserves the pain.)
